Dr. Velez is active in professional and business organizations and has
provided economic reports mainly on lost wages for law firms involved in
civil litigation in Texas since the decades of the ‘80’s. His other interests
are in matters of international trade and business, conducting research,
consulting, and teaching in these areas. He has travelled extensively to
various continents and received four Fulbright awards. He is a Professor
Emeritus of Economics at St. Mary’s University continuing periodically to
teach locally and abroad. He is often interviewed by both print media
and TV in both English and Spanish. He frequently writes for scholarly
publications and attends professional meetings both here and abroad.
He also continues active in community service as a board member to
organizations such as the San Antonio Business and Economics
Society (SABES).
